Residents in Grandmont Rosedale are remembering what their neighbors look like as they stroll from one colorful tent to the next outside the North Rosedale Park Community House. It’s been over a year since some have seen each other face-to-face.

....Duggan’s program is new, but many parks have been informally maintained by community groups for years. In Grandmont, residents have long taken care of Ramsay Park; one man who lives by the park has been nicknamed “Mr. Ramsay” because of how much he looks after it. The Grandmont Community Association actually formally adopted Ramsay from the city several years ago, but Jomo King, who serves on the GCA board of directors, thinks the new program is a vast improvement.
....Over the plus 20 years Cora worked as the SkillsUSA coordinator at Breithaupt, she not only has been very successful in getting students from all over Detroit to take advantage of the program, she has also helped train more than 20 of these student to hold office in the SkillsUSA program at regional and even state levels.
This year...Jomo is putting his ideas to work. As director of the Art Fair and as a board member of the Grandmont Community Association, Jomo would like nothing more than to see all kinds of people come to participate in, and enjoy the Grandmont Arts and Craft Fair.

Neighborhood-based nonprofit revamps homes, provides security and runs community programs to keep this thriving area of Detroit standing strong.
....Coach Muhammad is president of the community patrol of the Grandmont neighborhood, in northwest Detroit. He volunteers 40 hours a week to keep his neighborhood safe.
