We provide opportunities for high school students to invest in the city by building relationships with Detroit residents and participating in neighborhood partnerships. Through these relationships and neighborhood improvement projects, we hope to strengthen the bond between the city and suburbs, improve the quality of life in Detroit neighborhoods, and provide greater unity between metro Detroit residents of all ages and backgrounds.
Our mission is to improve and promote transit throughout greater Detroit in order to: restore urban vitality, ensure transportation equity, and improve quality of life.
What we do: provide University of Michigan students opportunities to volunteer in Detroit through weekly programs and DP Day.
Detroit SOUP is a microgranting dinner celebrating and supporting creative projects in Detroit. For a donation $5 attendees receive soup, salad, bread and a vote and hear from four presentations ranging from art, urban agriculture, social justice, social entrepreneurs, education, technology and more.
Our focus at The Greening of Detroit is to enhance the quality of life for Detroiters by planting trees, providing job training and involving our youth in the education of the natural environment. We involve Detroiters in the process through community engagement, green spaces, education and jobs.
Through partnerships with the Judge Mathis Community Center, the Cody Rouge Alliance, and the Brightmoor Community Center, Detroit Parent Network delivers Project Graduation, Pathways to Literacy, Pathways to Excellence, Parent Teacher Home Visits, special workshops, events, and other activities to the parents of the West Side.
Fierce Detroit provides females (of all ages) with the tools and resources that will encourage and empower them to reach their full potential as self-sufficient women.
Metro Detroit Youth Day is a great way to channel children’s energies in a positive and constructive setting....This event has grown to more than 35,000 youth in 2016. In addition more than 1,800 volunteers lend a helping hand to supervise the sports clinics, games, contests, and luncheon. Volunteers come from more than 360 organizations and 260 businesses and civic groups.
We are a broad-based coalition of community groups. Our mission is to launch a new wave of volunteerism for the many worth while programs and activities that are struggling with the issues that trouble our community – illiteracy, high school dropout rates, crime and youth violence, drug abuse, domestic abuse, neighborhood blight and unemployment.

Kidz Kingdom is a licensed child care center during the week and a birthday party and play center on the weekends. We will launch EXTENDED CARE HOURS beginning in February! Child care will be provided until 11:30 p.m. This service is ideal for parents working unconventional hours or looking for an evening out on the town! Our safe, clean and nurturing learning environment is the best place next to home for children to grow and develop!
The Building Better Men Program is a support system that is used to help young men between the ages of 6-17 develop the skills needed to take charge of their lives. Many of our young men live in single-parent homes without their fathers and may not know them at all, because of this fact many exhibit negative behaviors due to the lack of role models, and positive male influences(s) in their lives....The Building Better Men Program has school, community, and faith-based programs that are formulated to help young males understand that they are worthy of success, and will become contributors to society.

The Department of Neighborhoods was formed by Mayor Duggan to eliminate blight with the seven districts in Detroit. District's Managers and Deputy Managers partner and work closely with neighborhoods and other community organizations, CDCs, faith-based organizations and local businesses. They identify and coordinate with the city's departments to find the best answers to your concerns with in your community.
Mission: To access individual and organizational resources committed to the exposure and development of Black Males. Vision: To ensure that every Black male will be mentally, spiritually and emotionally accountable leaders of their families and communities.
We connect the public to local businesses and non-profits that demonstrate a commitment to environmental sustainability and social equality. We believe that increased communication about how to visit and support these organizations can help establish Detroit as a premier example of the Green Economy.
Grow Detroit’s Young Talent (GDYT) is a city-wide summer job and training program that employs young adults between the ages of 14 and 24 for a minimum of 6 weeks, typically 20 hours per week. Youth participants are permanent residents of Detroit and have completed an application and registration process to become eligible. With the help of Mayor Mike Duggan, as well as Detroit’s philanthropic and Corporate Leaders, our goal is to match 8,000 Detroit youth with meaningful employment and industry-led training opportunities.
Through education and advocacy, research and awareness, Preservation Detroit seeks to preserve and protect the architectural and cultural heritage that fosters great urban environments. Historic preservation and adaptive re-use contribute to stronger, safer neighborhoods, jobs, and economic development.
We aim to create win-win partnerships within Detroit’s vibrant food scene by elevating and supporting pop-ups, driving patronage to local businesses, and sharing events so you can find a great meal any night of the week.
