Samantha Bonaparte originally hails from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but has lived in Detroit since 2013. She fell in love with the city during her two-year commitment to teaching in the city through Teach for America and decided to make it home. She moved onto Asbury Park in December 2018 and is thrilled to be getting involved in Grandmont's community activities. Samantha is a first-grade teacher at Regent Park Scholars Academy. When she's not teaching young minds, she can be found running through the neighborhood, biking, gardening, watching movies, reading, and enjoying the city with her friends. She currently serves on the board as Secretary, and is a member of the Beautification and Garden Club Committee and Scholarship Committee. She is also the Street Captain for Asbury Park and runs the social media accounts for the GCA.
My name is Larissa Richardson and I am running for the Grandmont Community Association Board (again!). My family and I have been a residents of Grandmont for nearly 6 years. I have served on the GCA board since 2018 and as the Vice President since summer last year. I have also had the pleasure of serving as Grandmont Community Association's Beautification & Garden Committee Chair. As such, I've helped to organize a number of community cleanup events, installations of plantings across the community and have worked tirelessly with my fellow board members to maintain the beauty and integrity of our community. I hope that you will consider re-electing me to the board to continue serving our amazing community!
My name is Sean Novak. I am seeking re-election for my second term to serve our neighborhood as a board member with the Grandmont Community Association. Shortly after being elected to the board I was nominated as the secretary where I served for approximately two years. In addition to this I have served in a supportive capacity to the Vacant Property Task Force. From December 2020 to April 2021, I hosted a weekly gathering known as the Grandmont Community Social Hour. My dedication to our community is an expression of gratitude for what Detroit has given me through the years to make me who I am today. That dedication to Detroit and Grandmont comes from my faith, my roots, and my chosen path. I will continue to amplify the greatness that is Grandmont to the rest of our brothers and sisters here in Detroit and afar.
My name is Krystal Thurmond. I am a resident of our great community, Grandmont. I am currently a Board member and have been actively involved for years with the Art Fair, Radio Patrol, the Grandmonitor, Social Planning, etc.
My name is Joyce Tatum. I've been in the community for 7 years. I reside on Woodmont Avenue. The history, community and safety drew me to this neighborhood. There aren't many communities that take pride in their neighborhood as Grandmont! I want to applaud everyone of you!!! I am president of the Radio Patrol Grandmont #4 and GCA Safety and Security chairperson. I am currently training for the Citizens Police Academy, serve on the parents fundraising committee at GESU Catholic School and volunteer at Forgotten Harvest with the mobile food pantry. Volunteering is my passion. My Vision is to keep Grandmont Community Association, "The Home of Good Neighbors" Safe and Secure!!!
